About ChalkPad: Teaching Whiteboard
ChalkPad is a whiteboard for teaching that helps teachers, tutors and students explain ideas with handwriting, a ruler and protractor, and notes on PDF worksheets. Use a digital board for teaching in the classroom or prepare work for online classes. Start straight away, offline and without an account.
A board that feels familiar
• Choose a digital whiteboard, a green board with grainy chalk texture, or a dark blackboard. Enjoy chalkboard writing with colors that stay readable on dark paper.
• Your whiteboard for teaching can follow the shape of your screen on a phone, tablet or Android classroom panel. Choose 16:9, A4 or square pages too.
Geometry tools: ruler and protractor
• Move and rotate the ruler, with centimeter and inch marks. Hold it with a finger and draw straight lines along its edge.
• Read angles as you move the protractor's arm. Use both tools to explain constructions and math lessons on the page.
Write on PDF worksheets
• Import a readable, unprotected PDF to turn its pages into backgrounds you can write on. Annotate PDF worksheets, question papers or lesson slides with ink and highlights.
• Add pictures from your gallery, then move and resize them.
• Save the current page as a PNG image or export the whole board as a multi-page PDF. Share the exported file using your chosen app.
Present a lesson
• Presentation mode hides the toolbars and fills the screen, with page arrows and a laser pointer for presentations. Its fading trail is never saved to the board.
• Use this teaching board alongside your usual screen-sharing or projection setup for online teaching.
Write, draw and edit
• Pen and highlighter with color and width presets. Write with a pen or stylus; a pressure-sensitive stylus gives thick and thin strokes.
• Erase whole strokes or just the part you rub. Draw lines, arrows, rectangles, ellipses and triangles, with live length and angle labels and 15° line snapping.
• Add text boxes. Circle elements with the selection tool to move, resize, duplicate, recolor or delete them.
• Undo and redo edits on each page. Add, duplicate, delete and reorder pages as the lesson grows.
Backgrounds for every subject
• Turn your writing board into ruled paper, four-line handwriting practice pages, square grid, graph paper, dot grid or music staff.
• Pinch to zoom and pan, or double-tap with two fingers to fit the page. Stylus-only mode lets fingers move the page while the stylus draws, with palm rejection and a left-handed layout available.
• Use phones and tablets in portrait or landscape, with light and dark themes.
Use ChalkPad as a whiteboard for teaching science, a digital blackboard for worked examples, or a board for study and homework. Prepare maths exercises, tuition lessons and diagrams on an interactive board running Android, or write on your own tablet.
Free and private
ChalkPad is free, with no ads or in-app purchases. This whiteboard for teaching works without internet and requires no sign-up.
Boards save automatically on your device. ChalkPad has no internet permission and does not send your boards to a server. You choose when to export or share them. Android may back up app settings and copy boards during a device-to-device transfer, according to your system settings.
