About Vaelys VR: Relax & Breathe

Vaelys VR is a set of quiet places you can sit in for a while.

Put your phone into a Cardboard headset, look around, and stay as long as you
like. There is nothing to collect, nothing to finish, and no timer running.
You sit in one spot and the world happens around you.

THE PLACES

A campfire at night in a forest clearing — the fire cracks, the moon moves
slowly across the sky.

A wheat field under an open sky — wind travels through the ears in waves,
clouds drift past the sun.

A crystal cave — violet light from glowing crystals, reflected in the still
water on the cave floor.

A mushroom forest — bright, strange and luminous.

A porch in the rain — a wooden chair under a canopy, a cup of coffee beside
you, rain falling on the roof and across the yard.

A tropical island — calm sea, palms overhead, gulls in the air and dolphins
far out in the water.

Each place is reached through a portal from a space hub, and you return the
same way.

HOW IT WORKS

Look at something to use it. There are no buttons and no controller — you aim
with your head, and holding your gaze is what opens a portal. Any Cardboard
headset works, with or without a trigger button.

You stay seated. Nothing moves you around, and that is deliberate: a fixed
viewpoint means no motion sickness.

SOUND IS HALF OF IT

Every place has its own 3D soundscape — rain on a tin roof, surf timed to the
waves you can see, wind through palm leaves, drops falling in the cave. There
is no music. Use headphones; without them you lose about half of the app.

WHAT THIS APP DOES NOT DO

No ads. No purchases. No accounts. No analytics. Nothing is collected about
you.

The camera permission you will be asked for belongs to the Cardboard SDK. It
is used once, to scan the QR code on your headset so the lenses are set up
correctly. Nothing is recorded.

YOU WILL NEED

A phone VR headset — Google Cardboard or any similar model you slide a phone
into — headphones, and a few quiet minutes.
