KEY FEATURES

■ One card each time the screen turns on
When you turn on the screen, or after you unlock, one flashcard appears. Tap to flip it and answer "Not yet" or "Got it". On the train, in a queue or while checking messages, you review dozens of times a day without trying.

■ Your lock screen stays as it is
The card only sits on top of the lock screen and never unlocks your phone. Close it and you are back on your usual lock screen. One action closes it: ×, Back, swipe down or tap outside.

■ Two ways to show cards
"Big card on screen" shows the card over the lock screen (uses "Display over other apps"). "As a notification" needs no special permission: expand it to see the answer, reading and example, and answer with "Not yet", "Got it" or "Next card". No sound, no vibration.

■ Never too many
Set how often cards appear (every time, every few minutes or every hour), a daily limit, quiet hours, no cards during calls, and a one-hour pause. Choose which decks show cards. If no card can appear right now, the home screen tells you why.

■ Answer your way
Tap to flip, pick from 4 choices, or just glance with the answer shown. Answer in two grades (Not yet / Got it) or four (Again / Hard / Good / Easy). Choose the direction, close after answering, read aloud when shown and text size.

■ Spaced repetition
A scheduler based on SM-2 spaces out cards you know and shows new or missed cards again after 1 and 10 minutes. Answers on screen cards count as reviews, and answering early never breaks a card's schedule.

■ Study three ways
Flip, pick from 4 choices or type the answer. Typed answers ignore case, spaces and punctuation, and any alternative separated by "," or "/" counts. Undo a mistaken answer. Review freely or study starred cards only, and set new cards per day, a review limit and a daily goal.

■ Unlimited decks and cards
No limit on decks or cards. Each card has front, back, reading, example and note. Star, suspend, move or reset many cards at once. Search, filter (new, learning, mastered, weak, starred, suspended) and sort.

■ Read aloud
Uses your phone's text-to-speech, with the language set per deck or detected from the text, at three speeds.

■ Ready-made decks
Written for this app, with English meanings: Basic Japanese (774 cards), Basic Spanish (1,004), Hiragana (71) and Katakana (68).

■ Stats
Streak, accuracy, the last 14 days, a study calendar, reviews for the next 7 days and your weakest cards.

■ Widgets, tile and reminders
A "Flashcard" widget to flip cards on the home screen, a "Today's study" widget, a Quick Settings tile to turn screen cards on and off, and a daily reminder only when reviews are due.

■ Backups
No sign-in. Your decks stay on your device. Automatic daily backups (7 kept), export and restore to a file, and CSV export for spreadsheets.
