About Resonance: Breathing Exercises

Resonance turns proven breathing exercises into a daily habit. Pick a pattern, follow the animated circle, breathe. No account, no sign-up, no internet needed. Slow paced breathing is the oldest tool there is for stress and anxiety relief, for focus, and for sleep.

BREATHING EXERCISES FOR STRESS RELIEF, ANXIETY RELIEF AND SLEEP

Thirteen breathwork patterns across five categories. Each with a plain-language walkthrough: how to do it, why it works, what to expect.

- Box breathing (4-4-4-4). The equal-count pattern used by first responders to steady themselves fast. Box breathing is where to start when you need focus under pressure.
- Coherent breathing (5-5). About six breaths per minute, the resonant breathing rhythm this app is named after. Five calm minutes of coherent breathing is a complete daily practice.
- 4-7-8 breathing. The long-hold, long-exhale wind-down popularized by Dr Andrew Weil. If falling asleep is the problem, 4-7-8 breathing is where to start.
- 4-8 relaxing breath. Short inhale, exhale twice as long, for stress relief in a hurry. If you came looking for the physiological sigh, this is the closest paced breathing pattern here: the physiological sigh calms you the same way, by making the exhale longer than the inhale.
- Energizing breath (4-2). A short morning pattern for alertness.
- Bhramari humming breath, Kumbhaka, Tesla 3-6-9, Vortex, Tummo and Samadhi fill out the library, many with slower advanced timings.

A GUIDED BREATHING TIMER THAT KEEPS YOU CALM AND FOCUSED

Resonance is a breathing timer first, a breathwork library second. The circle expands, holds and contracts in real time, color-coded by phase - cyan inhale, purple hold, green exhale - so guided breathing works with the sound off or the screen face down.

- Breath cues and a haptic tap at every phase change
- Ambient rain, ocean, forest and nature beds with separate volumes
- Any session length, from one minute up
- A dark interface that is easy on the eyes at 2am

BUILT FOR THE TENTH SESSION, NOT THE FIRST

- Daily streaks for consecutive days of practice
- 12 levels, Beginner to Zen Master, earned in minutes practiced
- 30+ badges for consistency, total time and technique mastery
- Reminders at the times and on the days you pick
- Stats: total minutes, sessions, longest streak, and a practice calendar

WORKS COMPLETELY OFFLINE

Everything stays on your phone. No account, no email, no cloud, no ads. On a plane, underground, anywhere with no signal, the breathing timer still runs.

WHAT PEOPLE OPEN IT FOR

- Stress relief in the ten minutes between two meetings
- Anxiety relief before a flight or an exam: a few rounds of slow paced breathing
- Sleep: 4-7-8 breathing in bed when thoughts keep circling
- Focus: box breathing before deep work or an interview
- A calm reset after training, or after a day that got away from you
- Resonant breathing every morning: coherent breathing at six breaths a minute, the way resonant breathing is usually taught

Whether you have practiced breathwork for years or have never deliberately slowed your breath, these guided breathing exercises start where you are.

FREE, WITH AN OPTIONAL SUBSCRIPTION

It renews until you cancel, and you can cancel any time in Google Play.

ONE HONEST NOTE

Resonance is a wellness and relaxation app for guided breathing practice. It is not a medical device, it does not diagnose or treat anything, and nothing here is medical advice. If you are pregnant, have a heart or respiratory condition, or feel lightheaded during a breathing exercise, stop and speak to a doctor. Never practice while driving or in water.

Breathe in. Hold. Breathe out. See you tomorrow.
