Brainswap: Scroll Less, Learn

Swap the scroll for one smart card.

Choose the apps that eat your day. When you open one, Brainswap shows you a 20-second card first: a question about history, science, economics, math, words or a great mind, with the answer and its source. Then you decide: open the app for 10 minutes, or take another card. Both count.

A CARD BEFORE THE APP
On Android, Brainswap uses an accessibility service to notice when one of the apps you chose opens, so it can show the card first.

20 SECONDS, THEN YOU CHOOSE
Pick an answer, call it true or myth, slide to your best guess or put events in order. See the answer and where it comes from, then open your app or take another card. No guilt: every swap counts.

LESSONS AND REVIEWS
Short lessons of 5 cards with a quick quiz at the end. Cards you answered come back for review a day, 3 days and a week later; the ones you miss come back sooner.

YOUR PROGRESS
Recall by topic, accuracy over the last 6 weeks, cards learned and your swaps. A weekly quiz of up to 10 questions from the cards you did that week (Pro).

EVERY CARD CITES ITS SOURCE
300 cards, each checked against its source: Wikipedia, NASA, the MacTutor archive of the University of St Andrews, Encyclopaedia Britannica and more. Tap the source to read further.

SIX TOPICS
Economics, Math, History, Words, Great minds and Science. Pick at least two to start.

YOUR STREAK, YOUR SWAPS
Today shows your streak, today's swaps and cards, and your week. Home screen widgets.

YOUR DATA STAYS ON YOUR PHONE
No account. The apps you choose and what the accessibility service sees never leave your phone.

ACCESSIBILITY SERVICE: WHAT IT DOES AND DOESN’T DO
Brainswap uses the AccessibilityService API for one thing: to detect when an app you chose comes to the foreground, so it can show a card before it. It reads only the name of the app in the foreground (its package name). It does not read the content of your screen, what you type, your messages or any other app data. Nothing it sees is collected, sent off your phone or shared. The service stays off until you turn it on after an in-app explanation, and you can turn it off anytime in Settings › Accessibility. Brainswap is not an accessibility tool for people with disabilities.
