ScamSense India: Scam Checker

ScamSense India helps you and your family recognise common digital fraud before it costs you money. Paste or share a suspicious message and see the warning signs it contains, explained in plain words. Everything runs on your phone, offline.

★ CHECK A MESSAGE
• Paste an SMS, WhatsApp message or email, or use Share → ScamSense from another app
• 78 transparent rules look for warning signs in English, Tamil and common Hindi or Hinglish wording: OTP and PIN requests, "enter UPI PIN to receive money", KYC and SIM block threats, electricity disconnection, courier fees, task jobs, guaranteed returns, loan app threats, lottery fees, fake customer care, remote-access apps, fake police and "digital arrest", QR "scan to receive", romance and gift tricks, and more
• Link checks without opening the link: shortened links, raw IP addresses, look-alike spellings, unusual endings, http, hidden "@" tricks and app files
• Every warning sign shows how strong it is and why it matters
• Honest results: "Several strong warning signs", "Some warning signs", "A few weak signs" or "No obvious indicators found" — never "safe", because new scams can slip past any check

★ PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• Your message is checked on the phone and never uploaded, logged or stored
• Links are shown as text and never opened
• No SMS, contacts, call log, notification or accessibility access — no special permissions at all
• Optional: save a short summary (date, a label you choose and the result) — never the message

★ LEARN THE TRICKS
• Scam library: 16 common scam types with how they work, red flags, a fictional example and what to do instead
• Safety quiz: 48 everyday scenarios with explanations
• Quick lessons: two minutes each, with a check question
• Red-flag checklist and a link safety guide

★ WHAT TO DO NOW
A clear checklist for when something has already happened: stop contact and payments, call the National Cyber Crime Helpline 1930, contact your bank through the number on your card, keep the evidence, and report on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (cybercrime.gov.in) or Chakshu on Sanchar Saathi. Official contacts show their source and the date they were last verified.

★ MADE FOR EVERY PHONE
• Works fully offline, no account or sign-in
• English, தமிழ் and हिन्दी interface
• Light and dark themes, large text support, TalkBack labels
• Back up quiz progress and saved summaries to a file or your own Google Drive
