AirWaves Wi-Fi Analyser

AirWaves turns your phone into a Wi-Fi and mobile signal analyser. It shows the numbers behind the bars, so you can find out why a network is slow instead of guessing.

WI-FI
- Every network in range on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, and on 6 GHz where your phone supports it and a network is really broadcasting there.
- Name, address, channel, channel width, security type and live signal strength in dBm.
- A channel chart for each band shows which channels are crowded and where the clear air is.
- The Wi-Fi standard each network advertises, and the maker of the router from a built-in copy of the IEEE list (it works offline). Networks that use a randomised address are labelled.

MOBILE
- Dual-SIM and eSIM: each SIM is shown on its own, with which one carries your data and calls, its status, network type, signal and the cell it is registered on.
- Serving and neighbouring cells with cell ID, band, channel number, signal in dBm and ASU.

DIAGNOSTICS
- Which bands your phone supports, how many networks Android returned on each, how fresh the last scan is, and the band, speed and standard of the network you are connected to. A missing network can be explained, not guessed at.

PRIVACY
- No account and no analytics. Readings stay on your phone and are only held while you are looking at the app.
- Android requires the Location permission before any app may read Wi-Fi or mobile details. AirWaves never records or stores where you are. The Phone permission is only used to list your SIMs; AirWaves does not read your calls, contacts or messages.
- AirWaves is free and shows a small banner ad from Google AdMob. In the UK and the European Economic Area you are asked for your ad consent first, and you can change it later in Settings.
