About Keihi - receipt expenses

Keihi is an expense tracker that reads receipts with the phone camera. Point the camera at a receipt, the app reads the amount and the date, recognises the shop and suggests a category. You confirm, and the expense is saved.

Text recognition runs on a model built into the app, on your device. There is no account, no server, no ads and no analytics libraries. The app scans in airplane mode.

WHAT IT DOES

- Camera receipt scanning: amount and date read live, with no image leaving the device
- Retail chain recognition - over 300 brands across 13 countries
- Shop memory: the second receipt from the same place arrives with the right category already filled in. It is keyed on the chain, or on the seller's tax ID where the receipt prints one that can be checked, so a misread never leaks between shops
- The receipt photo stored with the expense - an archive for warranty and returns
- Batch scanning: "save and scan the next one" without going back to the list. A week of receipts takes two minutes
- Home screen widget: this month's spending, the remaining budget, and two buttons - add and scan
- Monthly budgets, category breakdowns and charts
- One-tap backup and restore - a ZIP with the database and the photos, written wherever you choose
- Interface in English, German, Polish, Czech, Slovak, Italian and French, light and dark theme

PRIVACY IS NOT AN ADD-ON HERE

Text recognition runs on a model bundled inside the app. Receipt photos and the expense database live in the phone's private storage. Android's Auto Backup is switched off, so the system will not upload your receipts to Google Drive without asking. The only network connection handles the Google Play payment.

There is no analytics or crash-reporting library in the app. You can verify that yourself by running the package through a tracker scanner. It also has a consequence that is inconvenient for me: I cannot see crashes. If something breaks, a message by e-mail is the only way I will find out.

WHERE SCANNING WORKS

Receipts from Poland, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Czechia, Slovakia, Italy, France, the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. You pick the country in settings, so a receipt brought back from a trip is read too.

Anywhere else the scanner is hidden and there is nothing to buy. The app is then a free manual expense tracker, with the budgets, charts, widget, receipt photos and backup all included. A country gets added once its printed receipts have actually been through the parser, not once its language has been read about.

WHAT IT COSTS

The first 10 scans are free. After that a one-time purchase unlocks scanning - no subscription, no recurring fees.

Everything else is free and will stay free: entering expenses by hand, budgets, charts, the widget, receipt photos and data export. You can always make a backup, even if you never buy anything. Holding someone's own data hostage is not a business model.

BEFORE YOU INSTALL

- The interface is in English, German, Polish, Czech, Slovak, Italian and French - one for every country where scanning works
- You pick one currency for the whole app; per-expense currencies are not supported yet
- No sync between devices - that would need a server, and there is none. Moving to a new phone is handled by the backup file
- No bank login and no automatic transaction import

What’s new

Version 1.1.1 · Updated September 11, 2026

- The scanner takes the amount actually charged, deposits on packaging included - Totals over a thousand are read at last - A photo taken at an angle no longer separates an amount from its label - Dates are read from unusual till formats too - The system number in the footer is no longer taken for a date - Refunds and corrections no longer land in expenses as positive amounts
