Activity Guardian is a reminder app that speaks. Instead of a notification you have to pick up your phone to read, it announces the reminder out loud at the time you set, using the text-to-speech voice already installed on your device. You can keep working, keep cooking, keep walking, and still know exactly what the reminder was.

Creating one takes a few seconds. Give it a title, pick a time, and optionally add a longer sentence to be spoken along with it, such as "Stand up, stretch for two minutes and drink some water". When the time arrives, the app reads the whole thing aloud, even with the screen off.

HOW REPEATING WORKS
Every reminder can repeat in the pattern that suits it. Choose an interval in minutes for something frequent like a posture check, or an interval in hours for a slower cycle. For fixed times, choose daily, weekly with any combination of weekdays, monthly on a chosen date, or yearly on a chosen month and date. Monthly dates are handled safely in shorter months, so a reminder set for the 31st still fires in February.

TIMING YOU CAN RELY ON
The app uses Android's exact alarm scheduling, so a reminder set for 9:00 arrives at 9:00 rather than whenever the system next happens to wake up. If you restart your phone, every active reminder is rescheduled automatically. If Android's "Alarms & reminders" permission is switched off, the app tells you clearly and links straight to the setting instead of failing silently.

KEEPING TRACK
Mark a reminder as completed with a single tap. Skip just the next occurrence when something comes up, without deleting the reminder or changing its schedule. Pause and resume with a switch. Duplicate an existing reminder when you want a similar one. The history screen shows what fired, what you completed, what you skipped and what was missed, so you can see how a routine is actually going.

CALENDAR AND EMAIL
Any reminder can be sent to your calendar app as a pre-filled event, with the repeat pattern carried across. You can also email the details of a reminder to yourself or to someone else. Neither of these needs an extra permission.

DISPLAY OPTIONS
Times can be shown on a 12-hour or 24-hour clock, or simply follow your phone's setting. Changing this affects how times are displayed and never changes when a reminder fires. The app follows your system light or dark theme and uses your wallpaper colours on Android 12 and above.

PRIVACY
Reminder titles, times and history are stored in a private database on your phone. They are not uploaded, and there is no account or sign-in of any kind. The app is free and supported by advertising, and it asks for your permission before any advertising service starts. You can choose non-personalised advertising instead, or withdraw your consent later, from the menu in the top-right corner.

PERMISSIONS
Alarms & reminders fires your reminders at the exact time. Notifications displays the reminder while it is being spoken. Run at startup restores your reminders after a reboot. Internet is used by the advertising service; the reminder engine itself works without a connection.

Activity Guardian suits anything you would rather be told than shown: exercise and stretch breaks, drinking water, resting your eyes during long screen sessions, medicine and vitamin times, and everyday routines.
