Wayfinder

Wayfinder is a navigation app for cities, road trips, walks and places where mobile coverage may disappear.

The app helps you find places, build routes, save important locations, record your own GPS trail and, when needed, return to your starting point by following the path you actually travelled.

Key features:

• Walking and driving routes. Wayfinder uses the built-in BRouter engine and calculates routes directly on your device.
• 2D, satellite and 3D map modes.
• Navigation mode with automatic tracking of your current position, a practical navigation zoom level and a direction marker.
• Map orientation can be automatic, heading-up or north-up.
• Search for addresses and places, enter coordinates, use search history and quickly open saved locations.
• Map bookmarks: create a point with a long press, move it before saving and adjust it later.
• Route history and quick reuse of previously selected destinations.
• Customizable on-screen compass.

Trail recording and return:

Wayfinder can record a GPS trail after you explicitly start recording, including while the screen is off. The starting point is saved automatically. If you need to go back, the Return to start feature follows the original recorded trail instead of replacing it with a calculated road route.

Completed trails can be saved with custom names, opened later and followed toward either the start or the end.

Offline mode:

Before a trip, hike or walk, you can download a vector map for the required area and local BRouter routing data. You can also prepare map data along an active route or a saved GPS trail.

After the required data has been downloaded, core navigation features can work without an internet connection. If road-routing data is unavailable for an area, Wayfinder can still follow a recorded GPS trail or show the direct direction to the destination.

The satellite layer uses a separate online source and requires an internet connection.

Your data:

Saved places, history, settings and GPS tracks are stored locally on the device. In Settings, you can export a backup and restore it after reinstalling the app.

Wayfinder does not require registration and contains no advertising.

Maps and search use OpenStreetMap data and related open mapping services.
