The WFP Wellbeing app is a practical guide to what you need to know about looking after your health and wellbeing. It has over 40 sections, covering topics including diet, exercise, coping with trauma, and mood. It provides a wealth of tips and advice on how to improve your wellbeing under challenging conditions.
A fundamental of self-improvement is self-assessment: the app provides private self-assessment so you can find out how you’re doing now and what you might want to work on next.
The app includes a section for families and local knowledge, along with contacts for direct and confidential access to counsellors.
There's even a way to discover what a WFP acronym means, so you can navigate the specialised language of the organisation to get the help you need ...or even just to know what someone is talking about.
All the content is based on research and best practices condensed into practical tools and tips to help staff manage psychological and physical risks associated with humanitarian work. The material is highly contextualized to WFP and includes several videos of staff talking about their experiences, providing advice to staff, how they cope with the challenges and several other areas of relevance to the type of work we do.
The core information is universally applicable, but we are also rolling out information specific to every country and duty station including local contacts and services available in your local area.
Because internet connectivity is not always a given in our line of work, the app works well offline, so tips and advice are always available.
The platform website is wellbeing.wfp.org.
Please send us feedback on your thoughts and topics you would like to see covered. We are constantly updating the material so check back often.
