Yatsu – Kamishibai for Kids

Discover Yatsu – the traditional Japanese paper theatre (Kamishibai), lovingly reimagined as a read-aloud app for children, parents, nurseries and primary schools!

21 enchanting fairy tales and legends from around the world unfold on large, warmly framed picture cards: every story is written entirely in melodic rhyme, richly illustrated and narrated by warm-hearted voices.

🎎 WHAT IS KAMISHIBAI?
Kamishibai (Japanese for "paper theatre") is a centuries-old storytelling tradition: picture cards slide into a wooden stage frame (butai) while the story is read aloud. Yatsu brings this captivating little theatre straight to your tablet or phone – perfect for sharing in a circle of children, or as a bedtime story at home.

✨ WHAT MAKES YATSU SPECIAL:

• EVERY STORY IN RHYME:
Almost every picture card carries four rhythmic lines of verse. Rhymes are fun, they build a feeling for language, and after just a few cards children happily start joining in.

• WARM NARRATION:
Children who cannot read yet simply tap the read-aloud button and listen to crystal-clear, natural voices on every card – around half an hour of narrated storytelling in each language.

• 168 BEAUTIFULLY FRAMED PICTURE CARDS:
Detailed, atmospheric illustrations in traditional woodblock and watercolour style, harmoniously framed and entirely free of garish effects or frantic animation.

• 6 LANGUAGES BUILT IN:
English, German, Spanish, Italian, French and Portuguese. Perfect for bilingual families, heritage-language teaching and playful first encounters with a new language.

📺 THE BIG STAGE ON YOUR TV:
Connect your device to the television by casting (Chromecast) or an HDMI cable: the picture card fills the big screen while the controls stay on your tablet – the real paper-theatre experience for a circle of children at nursery or school.

• 100% CHILD-SAFE & AD-FREE:
No advertising at all, no tracking, no data collection. Every external link and purchase sits behind a child-safe parental gate (a simple sum for grown-ups).

• WORKS OFFLINE:
Once downloaded, every story works without an internet connection – ideal for nursery days, holidays and long car journeys.
