Phoenix Sepsis Calculator
Sepsis calculator developed by an international task force for pediatric sepsis
About Phoenix Sepsis Calculator
The Phoenix criteria for sepsis and septic shock were developed by an international task force to identify children with potentially life-threatening organ dysfunction due to infection. The calculator app determines if the infant meets the criteria for sepsis and septic shock based on the International Phoenix sepsis criteria.
This Phoenix Sepsis Score calculator is intended for use in children who have confirmed or suspected infection and who are less than 18 years old and are at least 37 weeks post-conception and not in their birth hospitalization.
The score includes points for respiratory, cardiovascular, coagulation, and neurologic dysfunction. Sepsis is defined as >= 2 points in the setting of suspected or confirmed infection, and septic shock as sepsis with >= 1 cardiovascular points.
The data used to build the score comes from a multicenter study with sites in North America, Asia, Africa, and Latin America. The task force included experts from these areas, making the criteria globally relevant. Any measurements not done can be skipped within the calculator - allowing users to focus on those parameters actually available in their setting.
The Phoenix Sepsis Calculator can now be set to Spanish.
