About Snake Classic: Offline Game
Snake, rebuilt for a touchscreen: controls that register the instant you swipe, motion that glides instead of hopping, and three difficulty levels that are genuinely three different games. No ads, no accounts, no internet connection required.
🎮 CONTROLS THAT DO WHAT YOU MEAN
· Swipe anywhere on the screen. The turn registers the moment you cross the threshold, not when you lift your finger
· One-handed mode: tap the left half to turn left, the right half to turn right
· On-screen D-pad you can drag to either side for left or right-handed play
· 3-step input buffer: swipe three times fast and the snake makes all three turns. No swallowed inputs
🏆 THREE LEVELS, THREE DIFFERENT GAMES
· Easy — 14x20 board, edges you pass straight through so walls can never kill you, 3 lives, 2 seconds of invincibility after each respawn. Made for kids and first-timers
· Medium — 16x24 board, solid walls, 2 obstacle clusters, slow-down food, one life
· Hard — 18x28 board, speed climbing to a 68 ms tick, a new obstacle cluster every 5 food, poison food, and a combo window of only 2.5 seconds
🍎 FOUR KINDS OF FOOD
· Apple: +10 points, +1 segment
· Golden: +50 points, +2 segments, disappears after 6 seconds
· Ice: slows the snake 1.5x for 4 seconds, room to breathe in a tight spot
· Poison (Hard only): -30 points and cuts 3 segments off your tail
Eat again before the combo window closes and your multiplier climbs by 0.5, up to x3.0. The eat sound rises a semitone with every step of the chain.
⚖️ FAIR BY DESIGN
Every death should be your fault, and you should know why immediately.
· New obstacles blink for 1.5 seconds before they turn solid
· Nothing ever spawns within 4 tiles of your head
· Food is always reachable, verified by a flood-fill check on every spawn
· Poison never appears directly in the path ahead of you
· Coyote time on Easy and Medium: turn up to 100 / 60 ms late and the death is cancelled. Hard switches it off, because at that level consistent rules beat mercy
· The game-over screen always names what killed you
🔒 NOTHING TO PUT UP WITH
· Fully offline. Plays on a plane, on the subway, with no signal
· No ads. Not between rounds, not in the menu, not anywhere
· No in-app purchases, no sign-in, no account
· One permission: vibration. The app has no INTERNET permission at all, so it cannot send your data anywhere even if it wanted to
· No analytics, no tracking, no data collection of any kind
⚙️ UNDER THE HOOD
Game logic runs on a fixed tick, fully decoupled from rendering, so the snake interpolates smoothly between tiles instead of jumping cell to cell. Measured input latency: 0.53 ticks on average, 1.00 ticks at the 99th percentile. A 400-segment snake costs 0.0075 ms per logic tick, about 0.05% of a 60 FPS frame budget. Built with Godot 4 for Android 7.0 and newer.
🎨 TWO THEMES
Neon: dark board, glowing snake, sharp contrast. Garden: light board, green snake, red apples.
High scores and stats are kept separately for each difficulty, so Hard mode never buries your Easy and Medium records. Games played, food eaten, longest snake, longest survival, best combo, all stored on your device and nowhere else.
A small game, built with care. Install it, turn off the wifi, and see how far you get.
