Kaleidoscope Camera: Mirror
The camera view becomes a live kaleidoscope. Four patterns, photo and video.
About Kaleidoscope Camera: Mirror
Whatever your camera sees turns into a kaleidoscope, live.
Instead of turning a tube, you just point your phone. A flower, the tiles on the floor, the palm of your hand - anything in front of the lens becomes a symmetrical pattern. No editing afterwards, no account, no upload.
■ Four patterns
・Radial - mirrors set in a fan around the center, the classic kaleidoscope
・Triangle - the field of hexagons you see through a three-mirror tube
・Grid - a square tile folded over and over, sideways and up and down
・Tunnel - the pattern nested inward, as if you were falling into it
All four are built by mirroring, so the picture never breaks where the segments meet. No seams, no visible lines - the way a real kaleidoscope looks.
■ Change the number of mirrors
Pick from four steps of mirrors (or tiles, or cells). Fewer gives you a bold pattern where you can still tell what you pointed at. More turns it into something as fine as lacework.
■ Turn the pattern
A slider moves the angle of the pattern. Switch auto spin on and it keeps turning slowly by itself, so a video keeps changing even when nothing in front of the camera moves.
■ Pinch to move in
Pinch the preview to move in up to 4x. The closer you get, the less you can tell what the subject was, until only color and shape are left.
■ What you see is what gets saved
The image in the viewfinder is the image that gets saved. Nothing ever comes out different from what was on the screen. Photos are 1080x1080, videos 720x720 at 30fps, both square.
■ Video as well
Switch between photo and video and record with the same pattern. Allow the microphone and the sound is recorded; refuse it and the video is simply silent.
■ Straight into your gallery
Photos go to Pictures/KaleidoscopeCamera, videos to Movies/KaleidoscopeCamera, ready to post or to send in a chat. The front camera works too.
■ The shutter sound can be muted
Turn it off in the settings. Some countries and devices keep it on.
