The UNESCO Creative Cities Network, launched in 2004, is comprised of 180 cities from five continents, reunited with the aim of promoting cooperation among cities that consider creativity as an essential driver of their urban development. Working together, sharing experiences and best practices, launching initiatives, participating and enhancing our local cultural and historical heritage are the key goals of the Network.
Every city of the Network stands out in a particular creative field: Crafts & Folk Art, Design, Film, Gastronomy, Literature, Music, and Media Arts. In 2013, the city of Fabriano was designated ‘Creative City for Crafts & Folk Art’ for its century-long craftsmanship in the production of paper.
The most important event organised by the UNESCO Creative Cities Network is the Annual Conference: from June 10th to 15th, 2019 representatives and delegated from 180 creative cities all over the world will meet in the city Fabriano, located in the Marche region, to review what has been done so far and to share their opinions on missions, objectives, and future strategies concerning the UNESCO Network with the aim of reinforcing the Network and launching new cooperative projects.
