About Iqal – Quran Arabic Vocabulary

Iqal helps you really learn and remember Arabic vocabulary. ONE SESSION A DAY Your new words, the words to review and the ones that resist you: about five minutes. Choose your goal: 5, 10, 20 or 30 words a day. REVIEW AT THE RIGHT TIME Each word comes back just before you forget it (spaced repetition). A missed word comes back the next day; missed several times, it is marked “difficult” and stays in your sessions until it holds. VARIED EXERCISES Choose the meaning, find the Arabic word, listen, write the translation, write the word in Arabic, spot it in a real verse. YOU DON’T READ ARABIC YET? Lessons to start with: the alphabet, each letter with its name and its sound, the forms of the letters, then the vowels. THE VOCABULARY OF THE QURAN The 1,500 most frequent words, ranked by their real frequency: 100 words already make up more than one word in two of the text, 1,500 more than nine in ten. For each word: meaning, pronunciation, root, forms, and real verses where it appears, with their audio. “AL-ARABIYYA BAYNA YADAYK” The vocabulary of books 1 to 4, unit by unit: 2,774 words and expressions in 64 units, with example sentences. Iqal does not reproduce the content of the book: the words are vowelled and translated, and the sentences written, by our team. THE 40 HADITHS OF AN-NAWAWĪ The 42 hadiths, to read word by word, with their translation, their grading and their explanation (HadeethEnc.com), and the vocabulary to read them. THE INVOCATIONS “Fortress of the Muslim”: the morning and evening invocations, then those of each moment of the day, with their translation, their transliteration, their reference, and a counter when they are to be repeated. DUELS IN 5 ROUNDS Face a player of your level, live or at your own pace, or invite a friend. The questions are on words you have both studied. Daily, weekly, overall and friends rankings. After each duel: the words you missed, to review in one tap. READ THE QURAN The Medina muṣḥaf in 604 pages, the audio of 8 reciters, a translation of the meanings, verse search, bookmarks and resume reading. Three displays: the colour-coded tajwīd muṣḥaf, your learnt words in blue, or the plain text. THE QIBLA A compass showing the direction of the Qibla, and a widget for the home screen. TRANSLATION A word or a sentence, from English to Arabic (written with its vowels) or from Arabic to English: Iqal’s verified words first, then a machine translation, marked as such. IN ENGLISH, FRENCH AND RUSSIAN RIGOUR No verse is generated: the examples come from the verified text, with their reference. The sources are named in the app. No ads. The app does not use the microphone. What Iqal does not do: it does not correct pronunciation and does not replace a teacher. SUBSCRIPTION Free: the reading lessons, the 100 most frequent words of the Quran, units 1 and 2 of “al-Arabiyya bayna yadayk”, all exercises on these words, 3 duels to try, reading the hadiths, the invocations and the whole Quran reader. Premium, by monthly or yearly subscription: all the vocabulary and unlimited duels. Prices are shown in the app before any purchase. The yearly plan starts with a 7-day free trial (once per account). Payment is charged to your Apple account at confirmation of purchase (or at the end of the trial). The subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; you can manage and cancel it in your account settings.
