Kapi: Learn Japanese Kanji

A little Japanese, every time you look. Kapi puts a kanji on your Lock Screen with designs that show its sounds and meaning. Tap a character widget to open that character in the app. Kapi requires a subscription for the app and widgets. Choose monthly or yearly. Eligible yearly subscriptions include a 3-day free trial; monthly has no free trial. You see the local price before confirming with Apple. LEARN ONE CHARACTER AT A TIME Reveal the sounds, meaning and a real example word when one is available. Hear the readings with your iPhone's voice. Explore pieces, stroke order and additional words drawn from open dictionary data. WIDGETS FOR THE WAY YOU LEARN Add Lock Screen or Home Screen widgets and choose a design. Kapi follows your chosen flip schedule, subject to iOS refresh timing. Some designs teach; others help you recall characters you have already met. SHORT CHECKS, WITHOUT A STREAK Answer short checks in the app or the Home Screen quiz widget. Wrong answers bring teaching and another chance. A daily limit keeps the question count bounded; there is no streak to protect. Checks need enough learned characters to supply real alternatives. A REAL SENTENCE EACH DAY After meeting four characters, unlock a daily sentence with spoken readings and word explanations. Browse your dated sentence archive in the app. ALL FIVE LEVELS Explore 2,211 kanji across N5-N1. Search the Library, mark characters you already know and see your learning history in Progress. Rare characters may not have an example word or sentence. YOUR LEARNING STAYS ON YOUR DEVICE No login is needed. Learning data is bundled and progress is stored locally. An internet connection is needed for purchases and purchase checks; Apple and RevenueCat handle subscriptions and purchase analytics. If you contact support, we receive the message you choose to send. SUBSCRIPTIONS Monthly and yearly plans renew automatically unless cancelled. For an eligible yearly trial, cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends to avoid the first charge. Manage or cancel in your Apple subscription settings. Deleting Kapi does not cancel a subscription.
