About Rest Stop Ahead
Know exactly how far the next rest area is, before you need it. Rest Stop Ahead is a focused guide to official interstate rest areas, welcome centers and scenic overlooks on four corridors: I-85, I-40, I-95 and I-26 through North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Georgia. Instead of a shallow national database, you get real depth on the roads you actually drive. Mile-by-mile countdown Turn on location and the app detects which interstate you are on and which direction you are heading, then counts down the miles to every stop ahead. Location off, or prefer not to use it? The manual road picker lets you choose your interstate, direction and the stop you just passed — a first-class path, not an afterthought. Works with no signal All 137 stops are bundled on-device. No account, no login, no network required. It keeps working in the dead zones between towns, in the mountains, and wherever your carrier gives up. Every detail that matters Hours, truck parking counts, RV access, picnic areas, pet areas, dump stations, welcome center services and the serving agency. Plan a driver swap, a dog walk, a diaper change or an overnight truck stop with real information instead of a guess. Honest freshness dates Data comes from state DOT agencies (NCDOT, SCDOT, TDOT, GDOT) and is verified quarterly. Every stop shows when the agency last confirmed it — and anything older than twelve months is clearly flagged as getting old. You always know how much to trust what you are reading. Your own notes and ratings Rate cleanliness, visibility from the road, and family facilities from 1 to 4, add a note, and the check-in date is recorded automatically. Over a few trips you build a private record of which stops are worth pulling off for and which ones you skip. Ratings and notes stay on your device. Search the way drivers think Look up stops by mile marker within 25 miles either side, or by nearest town, grouped by state. Useful for planning tonight's stop before you leave, or finding the last option before a long stretch. Quiet by design No ads, no accounts, no tracking, no points or badges. Location is used on-device only and is never stored or transmitted. Built for long-distance drivers, RVers, professional truckers and families road-tripping through the Carolinas, Tennessee and Georgia. Download Rest Stop Ahead and stop wondering what is at the next exit.
What’s new
Version 1.0.1 · Updated September 13, 2026
Fixes a layout problem on the Search and Ahead screens where the amenity icons could overlap the rest stop name on stops with many facilities. The icons now wrap onto their own line, so every stop name stays fully readable.
