About jd.Edit

jd.Edit is a waveform editor for iPhone, iPad and Mac — cut audio like on a desktop, one purchase for every device. On top of that, the app records through USB audio interfaces in true stereo and remembers your input choice. And it writes MP3 with its own encoder, calibrated against the reference encoder LAME. FREE — INCLUDED FOR EVERYONE • Opens WAV, AIFF, CAF, MP3, M4A/AAC, Apple Lossless, FLAC and Opus (mono and stereo) • Waveform with two-finger zoom all the way down to individual wave cycles • Select, listen, delete, trim to selection, silence — non-destructive, with unlimited undo; the original file is never touched • Linear fade-in and fade-out • Zero-crossing snap and a micro-fade at every cut edge: no clicks • Recording with the built-in microphone as uncompressed WAV (44.1 kHz / 24-bit) • File shelf with folders, search, preview playback and mini player — visible in the iOS Files app • Export as WAV and AAC EFFECTS – LIKE PLUG-INS, WITH LIVE PREVIEW • Thirteen effects, each on its own page with knobs, toggles and meters: Normalize, Fade, Stereo to Mono, NoiseFloor, High-pass, Equalizer, Leveler, Compressor, De-Esser, SoundsBetter, Limiter, Pitch and BetterVoice • Live preview: the play button loops the change instantly and every knob is audible as you turn it – only Apply writes it to the file. With a selection an effect applies only there • BetterVoice: a complete voice channel strip in six modules – preamp, high-pass, compressor, de-esser, enhancer, gate • Pitch: shift the pitch with formant preservation or as a tape effect • NoiseFloor removes the noise floor, learned from a selected passage or taken from a preset saved in the Record tab • Leveler evens out level changes like an engineer riding the fader, Compressor catches peaks, De-Esser tames sibilance, the true-peak limiter keeps every peak under the ceiling • Video export: audio as a video with cover art, title and equalizer – or as a turntable scene with spinning disc and tonearm STUDIO • Arrange several tracks on one timeline and play them together – mono and stereo mixed, every file at its own rate • Track heads with mute, solo and fader, drag clips, export the mix as a stereo WAV (up to two tracks free) THE PRO UNLOCK — ONE-TIME PURCHASE, NO SUBSCRIPTION • MP3 export with jd.Codec: constant, variable (V0–V9) or average bitrate, joint stereo, gapless • Freely shapeable fade curves with seven presets • Normalize to peak level or loudness (RMS) with a selectable target and clipping protection • Equalizer with up to 24 bands, analyzer, dynamics per band, mid/side, linear phase, presets and EQ match • Studio with more than two tracks • Recording through USB audio interfaces and in stereo — with a real-time spectrum analyzer and level meters • Wi-Fi transfer: upload and download files in a browser on your computer, with QR code and access code • Export in 24-bit and 32-bit float, with dither • Edit ID tags on MP3s: title, artist, album, cover and more Every Pro feature can be used twenty times for free — only then does the app ask for the purchase. ABOUT JD.CODEC jd.Codec is an in-house MP3 encoder with zero third-party libraries, verified with 116 round-trip checks against Apple's decoder and benchmarked against LAME. Lossless is always available: WAV import → export without edits is bit-identical. CONTROLS One finger pans the view, two fingers zoom, a double tap toggles selection mode. Only in this mode does one finger draw a range — recognizable by the colored frame. In selection mode, Play plays just the selection; a long press opens the tool menu. On iPad with its own layout, on iPhone Duo on both displays — and on the Mac as its own app with menu bar, tabs and effects in separate windows. PRIVACY The app sends nothing. No analytics, no account, no servers, no ads. Wi-Fi transfer runs only on your own network and only while it is switched on. LANGUAGES English and German.
