About Sanctum: The Voice Journal

Some thoughts take shape out loud: an idea on a walk, a worry after a conversation, a decision you need to hear yourself make. Sanctum is a voice journal for thoughts that are still in process. Start before you know exactly where the thought is going. Ramble, correct yourself, and change your mind. Sanctum keeps the original and turns the whole train of thought into a clear note you can return to. Sanctum never uses your recordings, transcripts, notes or any of your data for tracking, advertising, analytics, or AI training. FIND THE THREAD • Turn one recording—or a thought captured in pieces—into a clear, grounded note • Surface useful patterns, tensions, insights, and questions to carry forward • Keep adding recordings as an idea changes • Search by meaning, even when you no longer remember the words you used • Let Echoes bring back one exact line from your own past notes KEEP THE WHOLE THOUGHT Every note keeps its source close: the audio, structured transcript, synthesis, and one readable combined document. Listen again, check the writing against what you actually said, rename and edit the result, or share it when you are ready. CAPTURE WHILE IT IS MOVING Record with one tap in the app. On supported iPhone models, put Sanctum on the Action Button to begin with one press and save with another. Pause, resume, organize notes into enclaves, folders, and tags, and restore deleted work from Trash. YOUR NOTE, IN FILES YOU OWN Each note is an ordinary folder on your device. Open it in the Files app, copy it, back it up, or take the Markdown somewhere else. Your files remain readable outside Sanctum. CLEAR CHOICES ABOUT PROCESSING No account is required to record, store, play, browse, search, organize, edit, rename, share, or export your notes. On supported devices and languages, transcription can happen on device. Sign-in is required only for optional work that leaves the device and incurs processing costs: server-side transcription and synthesis, and Private Backup. Sanctum shows the processing choice before you record. You can try server analysis before creating an account. New accounts include complimentary server-analysis minutes. Additional minutes are available through monthly subscriptions or a one-time top-up. Recording, playback, file ownership, on-device transcription, search, editing, and sharing remain free. What’s new

Version 1.1.12 · Updated October 11, 2026

Bring related notes together, with a little help from Sanctum. Create a collection from your notes Select 2–20 notes and choose Collection. Sanctum reads their text and suggests a name, a description of what belongs, and default tags. Review the draft, make it yours, choose where it lives and whether it is private, then create the collection and move your selected notes into it. You can remove notes before generating, return to an unfinished draft, and review every suggestion before anything is created or moved. Generation uses cloud processing and requires an account with analysis minutes available, but does not deduct minutes. Your audio stays on your device. You can still create and organize collections by hand, offline and without an account. ECHOES THAT KEEP THEIR PLACE Echoes now shuffle from the start and work through your eligible notes before repeating. Opening a note or moving around the app no longer restarts the rotation. A FRESH LOOK Updated typography, clearer collection icons, and simpler note-selection and collection-review screens make room for your thoughts.
