About Dare: Fitness Accountability
Motivation gets you to download a fitness app. It won't get you off the couch on a rainy Tuesday. Consequences will, because when quitting costs something, you stop quitting. People who put something on the line hit their goals about 51% more. Dare is built on that. Dare turns your fitness goals into a real commitment. Set your goal > Pick your most-used apps > If you miss your goal, Dare locks those apps until you actually hit your targets, or for the duration you set. GOALS • Daily steps: Hit your number every day. • Exercise minutes: The same green ring Apple fitness counts, and a brisk walk counts toward it. • Move: A daily active-calorie target. • Bedtime: Your apps go to bed before you do and unlock at your wake up time. BUILT AROUND YOUR REALITY Every person has a different life. That’s why Dare sets you a realistic target using your activity history in the last 30 days. Set a different target for each day if you like, a lighter Wednesday and a heavier Saturday, and leave out the days you know you won’t be able to hit. VERIFIED, NOT SELF-REPORTED No logging. No self-reporting. No cheating. No "I'll mark it done later." Dare reads steps, exercise minutes, active energy and sleep straight from Apple Health, so the only way to keep your apps is to actually do the thing. FLEXIBLE, NOT FRAGILE Life happens. Move a session to another day, take a rest day, or pause the whole week, all before the deadline. Nothing is recorded as a miss and nothing locks. Dare keeps you honest without being cruel. SEE WHAT IT CHANGED View how much you’re moving against the 30 days before you started, so you can see whether this is working rather than take our word for it. EARN A FREE MONTH Hit every goal on every scheduled day, for four weeks straight and you can claim a free month, up to three months a year. It is not a trial and not a prize draw. It depends only on whether you did what you said you would do. WHY STAKES WORK Good intentions fade. Reminders get swiped away. Dare replaces "I have to" with "I must," because the cost is immediate and personal: The apps you reach for on autopilot will now get locked if you don't hit your daily goal. BUILT FOR YOUR PRIVACY Your Apple Health data is only ever used to verify your goals and show them back to you. Never for advertising, never sold. We never see which apps you lock. Dare is for iPhone. Some goals work best with an Apple Watch or a tracker, but you don’t need one to use it. Free tier available. What’s new
Version 1.0.4 · Updated October 6, 2026
• In rare cases, signing in could replace your saved dares with an empty account. • During your wind-down hour, "One last scroll" could open apps that a different dare had locked, like a missed step goal. It now only opens apps your bedtime dare is holding. • Bedtime on your Lock Screen switches to night and clears at wake, even when Dare is closed. • The week strip shows each dare separately when you hit one and missed another. • Lock warnings name the dare they belong to. • Exercise reminders show how many minutes you have so far. • Progress no longer counts dares you deleted, and older weeks are easier to find. • Faster launch and lighter syncing • Several other bug fixes and performance improvements. Something not right? [email protected], we read everything.
