About PMDA

PMDA (pronounced "pimda") is one music lover's take on building the music library of his dreams — and now yours. Point the app at your own self-hosted PMDA server and enjoy your entire collection, beautifully organized, anywhere you go. WHY PMDA Most music apps lock you into a subscription and their catalog, or leave your carefully-built library a mess of mismatched tags and missing covers. PMDA is different: 100% self-hosted, private, and it actually understands your music. WHAT YOU GET • Your whole library, everywhere — browse artists, albums, genres and labels, with rich, clickable artist pages. • Real listening — gapless playback, history, cross-user recommendations, synced lyrics and waveforms. • Lossless, your way — stream bit-perfect FLAC or save data with smart transcoding; download albums for offline, even on a plane. • Clean and yours — your files, your server, your rules. No cloud lock-in, no ads, no tracking, no AI. HOW IT WORKS PMDA mobile is a companion to the PMDA server (a free, self-hosted music library app you run on your own machine or NAS). Enter your server's address, sign in, and your library is in your pocket. Nothing is stored on our servers — the app talks only to the server you point it at. Built for people who are in love with music. Welcome.

What’s new

Version 1.0.7 · Updated August 29, 2026

Playback starts when you press play. PMDA now keeps the next three tracks ready while you listen, so only the first one waits for your library's disks to wake. Staying signed in. The app was losing your session on some launches and asking you to sign in again with "Remember me" still ticked. Fixed. A calmer home. The album of the day, the artist spotlight and the artist page used to lay their text over the artwork; on a sleeve that is itself typographic, the label became unreadable. Covers are square again and the words sit on the page, with real space between sections. Concerts. One row per artist instead of one per city, so a tour no longer fills the whole section. Each row shows the artist and how far away the date is. In the mood for something. Narrow the home to the genres you feel like, and it says them back to you. Share a single track. Long-press it in the tracklist. Cleaner detail pages. The album page said several things twice and offered eight controls where four led to the same menu. Genres and labels now carry the same colours as the web app, so you can tell them apart at a glance. Sixteen languages, properly: a number of screens were still showing English regardless of your language.
