Turn an unexpected encounter into a lasting part of your birdwatching journey. PRIVATE, ON-DEVICE IDENTIFICATION BirdTrace’s on-device recognition model covers 10,480 bird classes. Identification runs locally, without uploading your photos to a remote AI service. Automatic bird detection helps locate your subject, and selection controls let you choose between multiple birds in a photo. Core identification works offline, including in forests, wetlands, mountains, and other places with limited connectivity. GEOGRAPHIC AND SEASONAL CONTEXT Birds are not equally likely to occur everywhere or throughout the year. With location permission, BirdTrace can combine visual recognition with geographic and seasonal context to prioritize species relevant to your observation. GLOBAL 52-WEEK MIGRATION ATLAS Explore modeled bird population distributions across all 52 weeks of the year. Discover seasonal changes through breeding, migration, non-breeding, and resident periods. Search supported species by Chinese name, English name, or scientific name. Download migration data by species and store it locally for later reuse. The atlas shows modeled population distributions, not GPS tracking routes of individual birds. 1,378 CULTURAL STORIES Discover birds through mythology, folklore, literature, religion, art, and history, with every story available in Chinese and English. From Odin’s ravens to birds in poetry and local traditions, explore the connections between birds and human culture. Each story includes references, with concise notes where needed to explain versions or species associations. Each card features Chinese and English names, the Latin scientific name, classification from kingdom to species, and a brief introduction.
