About Baby Bullet: Live Departures
Baby Bullet puts real-time Caltrain departures in your pocket — every station, both directions, always current. Baby Bullet is a fast, native iPhone app for tracking Caltrain. It merges the official published timetable with live real-time data from the railroad, so you see scheduled and actual departure times side by side, plus how many minutes late a delayed train is running. Open the app and it can jump straight to your nearest station, or pick any station from San Francisco to Gilroy for a clean departure board — time, status, destination, train number, type, and platform — split into Northbound and Southbound so you only see the trains heading your way. Local, Limited, and Baby Bullet express runs are color-coded at a glance. SERVICE ALERTS Caltrain service alerts sit right above your departures, with full detail one tap away and key info like affected stations, trains, and platforms called out automatically. WIDGETS Add a Baby Bullet widget to your home screen or lock screen for up-to-the-minute rail times without opening the app. Choose a small, medium, or large departures widget for a station and direction, or the single-train widget to watch one specific train count down to departure. BUILT FOR iOS • Can use your location to jump straight to the nearest station — entirely optional, and only used on your device • Weekday, weekend, and holiday schedules are detected automatically • Fare zone shown for every station • A companion Apple Watch app shares your settings and favorites, so your commute comes with you PERFECT FOR • Peninsula commuters checking the next train before they walk out the door • Anyone deciding whether to sprint for the next train or wait for the one after • Riders who want schedule changes and alerts at a glance, not looked up • Glancing at a lock screen or watch widget instead of unlocking the phone No ads. No subscriptions. No account. Location, if you allow it, is used only on your device to find your nearest station — never tracked or shared. Baby Bullet is an independent app and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Caltrain or the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board. Departure data comes from Caltrain's official real-time feeds.
What’s new
Version 1.6.8 · Updated October 14, 2026
* Fixed delayed trains not showing a delay badge, or showing a confusing "+0 min" — live estimates are now compared against the published timetable, and only gaps of a full minute or more count as delayed * Fixed departure times and the weekday/weekend schedule being off when your device isn't set to Pacific Time, for example while traveling
