1dea - Idea book

Ideas never make an appointment. 1dea catches them in a second, files them without effort, and hands them back just when you had forgotten them. Made for people who write, teach, research or simply think: aphorisms, quotes, talk outlines, hypotheses, reading notes, projects. CAPTURE • From the app, from the Share button of any other app, or with Siri and Shortcuts ("Add an idea"). • Markdown formatting: headings, bold, italic, highlight, lists, quotes, code, links. • Formatting bar above the keyboard: code block, equation, highlight, bold, web link and backtick in one tap. • Code coloured by language: Python, Swift, SQL… more than 190 languages in all. • Automatic references: a DOI pasted into a note becomes a numbered call [1], and the full reference, in Nature style, is added at the end of the note. • LaTeX equations, on their own line or in the middle of a sentence. • The place where the idea came to you, added automatically if you wish. GET INSPIRED • A library of 22,539 ideas, in English and French: history, science, nature, film, music… to browse by category, by words or at random. • Take an idea: it opens in a new note, for you to rewrite in your own words and file in your own categories, with its source link. • Related ideas: those sharing the most words with the one on screen. FIND • Search by words, or by meaning: 1dea finds related ideas even when they share no word. • Coloured categories, tags and one-to-three-star ratings to filter in one tap. • Related ideas and links between notes to weave your thinking together. • A world map of your notes. • Ideas graph: a map of your notes and their links, in Tools. REREAD • Home Screen widget: a random idea, from the categories you choose, refreshed anywhere from every 15 minutes to once a day. • "Random idea" in Siri and Shortcuts as well. • Project note: gather several ideas into one working draft. MEASURE • Statistics by month, year, category and rating. • Vocabulary tools: how many words you have written, how many are still ahead of you (Chao2 estimator), and how varied your vocabulary is (Shannon entropy). SHARE • Copy or share an idea as a quote, with your signature. • JSON export and import of your whole library. YOUR NOTES STAY YOURS • No account to create: sync goes through your own iCloud, across iPhone, iPad and Apple silicon Mac. • Search by meaning and statistics are computed on the device. • The idea library is built into the app and works offline. For a reference, only the DOI is sent to doi.org to fetch its record. • Lock with Face ID, Touch ID or passcode. Free, no ads, no in-app purchases. In English and French.
