Performative

this is your life is a kawaii memory player. touch the screen — a photo appears. it’s you and a new friend you made this year. do you remember when you barely knew each other? you tap again. it’s a photo of you in one of those over-the-top japanese cut-outs. you look so demure. so kawaii. so cutesy. you keep tapping, and the story of the memory comes back. your heart flutters as the app calls you cute in a jamaican accent. weirdly nostalgic video game sounds play. you laugh. maybe tear up a little. we were playing mario kart when we made this — writing code between rounds, scribbling ideas on the whiteboard. somehow, it turned into this. this is not an app. this is your life. relive it every day with us.
