Parahub

Parahub is a community platform run by a non-profit association: one app where neighbours trade, travel, meet and organise — directly with each other, with no middlemen and no commissions.

DISCLAIMER: Parahub is an independent community app run by a non-profit association. It is not a government app: it is not published by any government entity or public transport authority, and does not act on their behalf. Where a municipality or another public body works with the association, that partnership is named inside the app. Public transport information shown in the app is republished from the official open data sources listed below.

MARKETPLACE & BARTER
• Buy, sell, rent and give away locally
• Barter exchange: the app automatically finds multi-person swap chains
• Sign agreements with cryptographic contracts you can verify and prove

TRANSPORT
• Real-time public transport arrivals across multiple networks
• Live vehicle positions on the map
• Community carpooling at regular stops

MAP & PLACES
• Directory of local businesses, services and community places
• Live map with presence avatars — see who is around
• Events and meetups with built-in group chat

SAFETY (ParaSOS)
• Safety groups with family and neighbours
• One-tap SOS alert; hardware panic button (press volume-down three times)
• Emergency alarm that alerts your group even when their phones are locked

COMMUNITY GOVERNANCE
• Community-run local polls and participatory budgets with vote delegation (informal neighbourhood votes, not official government elections)
• Condominium management: assemblies, ballots and quotas under Portuguese Lei 8/2022 (official text: diariodarepublica.pt)
• Peer-to-peer solar energy sharing for neighbourhoods

WALLET (optional)
• Non-custodial Bitcoin Lightning wallet: your keys stay on your device
• The platform NEVER holds your funds — payments go directly person to person
• Donations and voluntary subscriptions to support people and projects

CHAT
• Private messaging built on the open Matrix protocol
• Group chats for events, safety groups and communities
• Voice notes that arrive translated: record in your language, the other person hears theirs
• Optional voice clone, so your translated messages still sound like you
