Hidden Camera Detector

LensGuard is a hidden camera helper for travelers. It does not promise the impossible. No phone app can spot a camera that is switched off. What it can do is surface the two signs most hidden cameras give off, and walk you through the rest with your own eyes.

A magnetic sweep first
Your phone already carries a magnetometer for its compass. Camera modules and their wiring nudge that field, so the EMF screen shows a live readout with a simple gauge and a short history trace. Set the alert level yourself, calibrate to the room you are standing in, then move the top edge of the phone slowly past the usual hiding spots. Clocks, chargers, smoke detectors, mirrors, TV bezels, shower heads, flowerpots, air vents. When it buzzes, stop and look for a tiny lens hole. The buzz means electronics are close. Your eyes deliver the verdict.

Then a dark-room look
Night vision cameras glow in infrared, which you cannot see but your phone camera picks up. Kill the lights, open the lens finder, and sweep the room at a walking pace. You are hunting one thing: a small steady white dot that stays put while you move. Snap a photo of anything suspicious and pinch in to inspect it. Most small spy cameras sold for night use carry these LEDs. Dust and reflections shimmer and drift. A real LED sits still.

A checklist, so you finish
Eight stops, top to bottom: door area, smoke detector, clock and radio, chargers and outlets, TV bezel, the bathroom mirror fingertip test, vents and shower head, and a glance at unknown camera names on the Wi-Fi. Tick them off and share a safety note with whoever you are traveling with.
