ErgoMine allows mining companies to perform ergonomics audits for bagging, maintenance and repair, and haul truck operations. These audits primarily focus on injuries due to handling materials, policies, workplace design, and slips, trips, and falls, but address other ergonomics deficiencies. This application presents a series of questionnaires and evaluates the answers to provide the auditor with information, recommendations, and targeted resources to improve the workplace environment.
New in ErgoMine 2.0:
• Auditors can complete checklists to evaluate the design and condition of ladders, stairways, and walkways to prevent slips, trips, and falls.
• Several new assessment forms are included for reporting ergonomics risk factors and worker discomfort.
• Auditors can add images and custom text to their recommendations and create a custom "Fix List" to house and track remedial actions.
ErgoMine was developed by Pittsburgh Mining Research Division researchers within the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health. The audits and recommendations are based on information from sources including laboratory studies, field studies, injury and fatality data, consensus standards, regulations, and best practices. The audits were designed to be conducted by mine personnel responsible for safety and does not require any ergonomics expertise.
