Actual Vote

DISCLAIMER: Actual Vote is NOT affiliated with, authorized by, or funded by any government entity. America Counts and Democracy Counts, Inc. are independent non-profit organizations, not government agencies. This app does not generate, modify, or officially report any vote data.

OFFICIAL SOURCES FOR ELECTION INFORMATION: All election information referenced in this app comes from official government sources. (1) Poll tapes are public records printed by vote-tabulating machines and posted by local election officials at voting precincts. (2) Official vote totals are published by each state's chief election authority (Secretary of State or State Board of Elections). A complete official directory of every state and territory election office is maintained by the U.S. government at [https://www.usa.gov/state-election-office](https://www.usa.gov/state-election-office) and by the U.S. Election Assistance Commission at [https://www.eac.gov/voters/register-and-vote-in-your-state](https://www.eac.gov/voters/register-and-vote-in-your-state). Voters can compare recordings made with Actual Vote against these official sources.

Actual Vote lets you make video recordings of election poll tapes — the long strips of paper printed by tabulating machines that contain publicly viewable government information like precinct names and vote totals. Actual Vote does not create or alter this information; it simply helps citizens record documents that election officials have already posted in public view.

How it works:

Sign in and select your state.
Access a publicly posted poll tape at your local voting precinct.
Use the app to record a video of the poll tape from top to bottom.
Your recording is automatically uploaded, reviewed by our team, and — once approved — published on https://av.democracycounts.org.
Manage, play back, and keep track of all your recordings in the app.

Key features:

Record poll tape videos directly from the app with camera, audio, and location tagging
Automatic upload to America Counts for expert review
Manage and review your recordings in "My Recordings"
Save a backup copy to your device's photo library
State-specific guidance to help you get started
