About Airplane Mode Classic BGs
Chess, checkers and backgammon for the places the internet can't reach — a row on a flight, a road trip, a campsite, a cabin. Two phones find each other over Bluetooth and the whole game runs at the table. Or pass one phone back and forth across the tray table.
Joining a friend's table and pass & play on one phone are always free. Hosting tables is one purchase that unlocks all three games, and your first hosted game is on us.
Buy the unlock before you fly: purchasing needs a connection, but once unlocked, everything works fully offline.
HOW IT WORKS
• One player hosts a table; a friend joins from the nearby-tables list. No hotspot, no pairing screens, no internet, just Bluetooth.
• Friends-only tables are protected by a password the host shares. Open tables let strangers nearby ask to join, and the host approves each one.
• Pass & play: one phone, two players. Nothing in these games is hidden, so the phone just changes hands and the board turns to face whoever moves next.
• Chess with every rule: castling, en passant, promotion, and draws by stalemate, threefold repetition, the fifty-move rule and insufficient material.
• American checkers: jumps are forced and keep going, and kings move both ways.
• Backgammon with the doubling cube, gammons and backgammons. Or switch the cube off and play single stakes.
• Resign when it's hopeless, offer a draw in chess and checkers, and rematch when it's over.
• Table chat.
• Optional alert when someone nearby opens a table to all (off by default).
• No accounts, no ads, no data collected.
