Founded in Dresden in autumn 1945 as an action alliance against the population's post-war hardship, Volkssolidarität is now the largest social and welfare association in East Germany with around 108,000 members. The work of Volkssolidarität covers the three areas of responsibility of member life, social policy advocacy and social services.
