Sales Tax and VAT Calculator works out the tax on a price and the total you pay.

Yellow Panda is an independent developer. This app does not represent a government, a tax authority, or any official agency, and it does not file taxes or give tax advice.

Choose a country. Every country is in the list. Type a price, then choose how to read it.

Add tax. The price does not include tax yet. The app adds the tax and shows the total. This matches the way many shops in the United States and Canada label a price.

Tax included. The price already includes tax. This matches the way many shops in Europe, the United Kingdom, and much of Asia show a VAT price. The app takes the tax back out and shows the price before tax, the tax, and the same total.

The United States has no single national rate, so you also choose a state. Canada asks for a province. The figure is that state or province rate. A city or county in the United States can still add more.

Every other country uses one saved standard rate: the usual VAT, GST, or sales tax on most goods. Countries with no general sales tax are listed at 0%.

Food, books, medicine, and some services often use a lower rate. India has several GST slabs, and the saved rate is the general slab.

The result is a shopping estimate from rates saved in the app. Official rates are published by each country's tax authority.

A store receipt follows the seller's own rules. The calculator works with no network connection. When a government changes a rate, the new figure arrives in an app update.
