GeoCulturAR

GeoCulturAR is a 3D Augmented Reality (AR)-based geometry learning application designed with an ethnomathematics approach to support equitable mathematics learning for children with intellectual disabilities in inclusive schools in Medan City. This application integrates local cultural elements into geometric concepts, making mathematical material more concrete, contextual, and understandable.

Through AR-based visualization of three-dimensional geometric objects, students can see, rotate, and interact directly with geometric shapes associated with local cultural objects from North Sumatra, such as traditional houses, traditional ornaments, and geometric shapes found in textiles or typical regional buildings. This approach helps students with intellectual disabilities understand abstract geometric concepts through a visual and interactive experience.

GeoCulturAR is designed with a simple interface, clear visual icons, and a learning narrative that is friendly to the learning needs of students with special needs. This application can also be used by teachers as a learning aid in inclusive classes to increase student engagement, motivation, and understanding of basic geometric concepts.

By utilizing AR technology and a cultural approach, GeoCulturAR functions not only as a mathematics learning medium but also as a means of preserving local culture and strengthening inclusive education. This application is expected to reduce the gap in mathematics learning and create a fair, enjoyable, and meaningful learning experience for all students.
