Udanta - Nepali News

Udanta brings the headlines from Nepal's news publishers into one feed.

When several outlets cover the same story, Udanta groups them together so you see how a story is being reported rather than reading one version of it. Tap
Full Coverage to read every outlet's take side by side.

CHOOSE YOUR LANGUAGE
Pick Nepali and you see Nepali language newspapers only. Pick English and you see English language ones only. The two are never mixed, and the whole app including dates and numerals, follows your choice.

TOPICS
Browse Top stories, or filter to Nepal, Politics, World, Business, Sports,
Entertainment, Technology and Health.

LIVE RADIO AND TELEVISION
Eight Nepali FM stations, streamed from the broadcasters themselves. Playback carries on with the screen off or the app in your pocket, and the station appears in your notifications and on a car head unit over Bluetooth. Set an alarm to wake to a station, or a sleep timer to have it stop by itself.
Nepali television channels are on the same tab.

WORLD NEWS TOO
Alongside the Nepali press, the feed carries a few international desks BBC
News Nepali in Nepali, and The Guardian, Al Jazeera, NPR and PBS NewsHour in English. The language rule still holds: they only ever appear in the feed whose language they publish in, and Nepal leads the page.

MARKET
• The NEPSE index drawn as a chart you can drag a finger across, and the whole board of 558 companies filtered by industry
• Interest rates across the nineteen commercial banks, savings, fixed deposit
terms, base rates, home and vehicle lending — with a loan calculator that
works out the monthly installment and every payment in the schedule
• Foreign exchange rates from Nepal Rastra Bank, with a built-in converter
• Gold and silver rates from the Nepal Gold and Silver Dealer's Association,
with the day's move
• Daily wholesale vegetable prices from the Kalimati market board
• A directory of the numbers worth having: ambulance, police, fire, hospitals,
utilities and government offices, tappable to dial

WEATHER
Current conditions and a seven-day forecast for where you are, or for any major
Nepali city.

NEPALI CALENDAR
A Bikram Sambat patro with the Gregorian date under each day, and a converter that turns dates between the two calendars in either direction. Every public holiday and festival is marked and explained in a sentence, Dashain, Tihar, Chhath, Janai Purnima, the Losars and the rest. The tithi is worked out for every date, with the full moon and the new moon marked, so the patro tells you what a printed one does. It all works with no connection.

ABOUT THE CONTENT
Udanta shows the headline and a short summary from each publisher's own public feed, always credited to them. Tapping a story opens it on the publisher's site, so they receive the visit. Udanta does not host, rewrite or republish articles.
