Binaural beats occur when slightly different pitches are played to each ear, and the brain perceives this difference as a "beat." DaZen is a quiet meditation app made solely from these beats and soothing natural noises such as the sea and rain.

■ You can layer soothing natural noises:
Rain, seaside, typhoon, forest. These aren't recordings; they're created from filtered noise and very slow, undulating patterns. Because there are no seamless transitions, you won't notice any loop breaks, no matter how long you play it. The sound never sounds the same twice, so you'll never get tired of listening. You can freely adjust the amount of each layer added to the beat.

■ Four Brainwave Bands
• Gamma 31–100 Hz (default 40 Hz) / Advanced information integration, instantaneous flashes of insight, extreme concentration
• Beta 16–30 Hz (default 20 Hz) / Daily wakefulness, logical thinking, active activity
• Alpha 8–15 Hz (default 10 Hz) / Relaxed wakefulness, introduction to meditation, memory recall
• Theta 4–7 Hz (default 6 Hz) / Deep meditation, dreaming, altered states of consciousness (ASC)

The pitch of the sound itself, heard in both ears, changes with each band. Theta is a deep, round sound, while gamma is a bright, vibrant sound. The frequency can be freely adjusted within the band.

■ Auto-Journey
Approximately every 30 seconds, the device quietly moves to the next band over 8 seconds. It doesn't switch abruptly; you're in the next location before you even notice—that's how it transitions. Once you reach the end, it changes direction and returns. Of course, you can also manually stay within a single frequency band.

■ Slowly rotate the sound around your head
Choose from three options: Off, Circular, and Infinity Shape. One rotation takes approximately 20 seconds. Because the direction is created by the slight time difference in how sound reaches each ear, when listening with headphones, the sound slowly circulates around your head. The sound is designed to reach even the farther ear, so the beat never cuts out while it's rotating.

■ Swipe to select frequency bands
Swipe the screen left or right to switch to the next frequency band. You can switch between Gamma, Beta, Alpha, and Theta without opening the settings.

■ No sound source files are required
Beats and noise are all synthesized on the spot during playback. There's no need to download sound sources, and the app remains small. It works as usual even in airplane mode or in areas with no signal.

With a single purchase, the following two things change. There are no additional costs.

• Banner ads disappear
• Continues playing even when the screen is off (can be paused and played from the lock screen)

■ Wear OS
If your smartphone is nearby, you can play/pause, switch frequency bands and nature sounds from the watch (in the free version, this is only possible while DaZen is displayed on your smartphone screen). Even if you leave your smartphone behind, you can still play sounds using only the watch (Bluetooth headphones are required).

■ About Ads
In the free version, banner ads are displayed at the bottom of the screen. Google AdMob is used for ad delivery, and AdMob collects ad IDs, etc., for ad display and measurement. DaZen itself does not ask you to create an account or send your settings or usage data.
