About BGone — Background Eraser

Backgrounds, gone.

BGone does one thing and does it properly: it takes the subject out of your photo
and hands you a clean PNG with a transparent background. No sign-up, no upload, no
watermark, no monthly fee.

ONE TAP TO A CUTOUT
Pick a photo and BGone finds the subject on its own, tracing the outline as it
goes — the same instant, satisfying cutout you get from your phone's gallery, but
with a real editor behind it. People, pets, products, plants, food, furniture.

THE EDGE IS THE WHOLE JOB
Anyone can cut out a rectangle. BGone is built around the two millimetres that
actually decide whether a cutout looks real:

• Wispy hair, fur and fine strands survive as soft, semi-transparent edges instead
of being chopped into a hard silhouette.
• Colour fringing is removed. When you cut someone out of a green or blue
backdrop, BGone unmixes that colour out of the edge instead of leaving a halo
that follows them onto every new background.
• BGone reads your photo and picks the right treatment automatically — a crisp
edge for a product on white, a soft one for hair, an untouched one for thin
detail like wires and spokes. You can override it at any time.

MANUAL MODE FOR THE LAST TWO PERCENT
Automatic cutouts are excellent, not perfect. When you want a specific result:

• Erase and Restore brushes with adjustable size and softness
• Four brush shapes — round, square, chisel and fine liner. A round brush always
bulges past a slanted edge; a flat nib laid along it does not. The nib turns to
follow your stroke automatically, or you can set the angle by hand.
• Magic wand — tap a background area to clear everything that colour
• Pinch to zoom right into an edge, two fingers to pan
• Generous undo and redo
• Press and hold to compare against the original at any moment

FINISH AND EXPORT
• Save a transparent PNG, or drop your subject onto a solid colour
• Exports at your photo's own resolution, not a downscaled preview
• Saves straight to Pictures/BGone, or share to any app
• Send a photo to BGone directly from your gallery's share sheet

YOUR PHOTOS STAY ON YOUR PHONE
BGone has no servers of its own. Your photos are never uploaded, never queued,
never used to train anything, and never leave your device. There is no account to
create and nothing to sign in to. Every cutout is computed on your phone — put it
in aeroplane mode and it works exactly the same.

THE ONE PIECE OF FINE PRINT
BGone's subject detection is built on Google ML Kit. The detection runs on your
device, but ML Kit does two things over the network, and you should know about
both before you buy:

• It downloads its detection model once, from Google Play services.
• It reports anonymous diagnostics about itself to Google — that a detection ran,
whether it worked, and what kind of device it ran on.

That is the whole of it. Your photos are not part of either one, and that is
why the app lists a network permission it never uses for your images. Everything
is spelled out in the privacy policy, and you can confirm it in thirty seconds
with aeroplane mode.

BUILT FOR PEOPLE WHO MAKE THINGS
Product listings and shop photography. Thumbnails and channel art. Stickers and
memes. Presentation slides. Collages and moodboards. Anywhere you need a subject
with nothing behind it.

HONEST ABOUT THE HARD CASES
Automatic subject detection is very good, and it is not magic. Semi-transparent
things — a dandelion clock, smoke, a wire fence, glassware — and very thin
repeating structures are genuinely hard, and BGone will sometimes miss part of
them. That is exactly why Manual mode is a first-class part of the app rather than
an afterthought, and why BGone tells you when it could not find a subject instead
of quietly handing you a bad cutout.

One purchase. Yours permanently. No subscription, no credits, no watermark, no
ads.
