About Bench Light: Retro Repair ASMR

Bench Light is a cozy repair game about retro electronics. You clean off decades of grime, find what is actually broken, fix it, and restore each old gadget until it powers on again.

Cleaning and fixing here is slow, satisfying ASMR work: a brush scratching dust off a circuit board, screws ticking into a dish, the hiss of the soldering iron. There are no timers and no fail screens, so it stays relaxing.

THE FIRST JOB
"Found this in my dad's closet. It was his. Won't turn on."
That note is taped to a yellowed handheld game console with old batteries still inside. You flip it over and find green crust on the springs. Then you pry the shell off, and there's a cartridge inside with ROB written on it in marker.

CLEAN IT
- Scrub caked grime off the plastic until the shell looks new
- Brush the dust off the circuit board
- Swab leaked battery crust off the contacts
- Peel off a cracked screen lens and squeegee a new one on
After the power-on, a satisfying before-and-after card shows how far it came.

FIX IT
- Undo the screws by hand and pry the shell along its seam
- Probe parts with a multimeter. A blown fuse reads OL: the circuit is open.
- Desolder the bad part and solder in a new one. Let go of the iron in the green for a perfect joint.
- Test a dead phone battery, pull lint out of a charging port with tweezers, loop a new belt around a cassette player's pulleys
You work like an electronics technician: look, test, then repair. Every fault has a tell if you look closely.

THE POWER-ON
Every restoration ends with you flipping the switch. The lamp dims, the bench goes quiet, and the screen lights up. Each device boots its own way. The handheld still has an old high score saved. The calculator types its owner's magic number and turns upside down. The virtual pet hatches again. The radio hisses until you tune it in. The watch flashes 12:00 until you set it. The bar phone opens a text its owner never read. The cassette player plays a tape nobody has heard in years.

THE PEOPLE
Each gadget arrives with a handwritten note, and the owners come back with new trouble. Kai drops his dad's handheld on the bus. Mrs. Halloran keeps her late husband's radio going for her grandson. Some devices hide something under the shell: a folded photo, a bus ticket, a cat's name tag. You keep what you find on your shelf, and each owner's reply depends on how many stars you earned.

EIGHT RETRO CLASSICS TO RESTORE
- Brick Boy, a chunky handheld console
- Solaris, a solar-powered calculator
- Pocket Pal, a virtual pet on a keychain
- Duo, a gamepad with its own test monitor
- Transistor, a pocket radio with a glowing dial
- Chrono, a digital watch with an hourly beep
- Brick 33, a bar phone with a snap-on cover
- Strider, a cassette player with a belt drive

YOUR REPAIR SHOP
Pin jobs to the cork board, get paid, and buy better tools. A faster driver, a wider solder window and a bigger magnifier all change how the work feels. Keep the rare colorways on your collection shelf.

NO RUSH
Free to play. No ads in the middle of a repair, and no banners. Ad videos are optional: watch one to double a job's pay or to borrow the Pro Kit for your next job. The only other ads play between jobs, never in your first 15 minutes, and one purchase removes them for good.

If you watch restoration or ASMR videos to unwind, or you still have an old handheld in a drawer somewhere, pull up a chair.
