About Sonare

Listen. Play. Create.

Sonare is a music practice app for developing your ear, intonation, rhythm, scales, harmony, improvisation and general musicianship.

Play into your phone and Sonare can listen through the microphone, respond to the notes you play and give useful feedback. Work on Sonare-tailored scales, chords, backing tracks, rhythm work, guided practice and creative exercises.

Whether you want to play more in tune, learn your scales properly, understand chords and progressions, improve your improvisation or simply test your ears with a quick musical game, Sonare gives you different ways to practise — from a few minutes of focused training to complete guided Paths.

Listen

Train your ear with pitch and rhythm games.

Learn to hear whether notes are flat, sharp or in tune, recognise time signatures, strengthen your pulse and develop a better sense of pitch and intonation.

Sonare can listen to your playing through your device microphone. With calibration and audio-input settings, it can recognise the notes you play and check scales, chords, shapes and other exercises as you practise.

This makes practice interactive: Sonare can respond to what you are playing rather than simply displaying an exercise.

Play

Use Sonare as a precision tuner and metronome, or move into guided musical practice.

Work on intonation, scales, chords, progressions, rhythm, technical patterns and improvisation.

Learn a scale and then develop fluency using shapes such as 3rds, 4ths, 5ths, 6ths, triads, 7ths, turnbacks and more.

The aim is not simply to play a scale up and down, but to become comfortable hearing and using it's notes in different musical situations.

Create

Build your own practice with Backing Tracks, Scale Setlists and Drills. Create Lessons and Practice Packs, explore generated practice and develop ideas using scales, chord tones, phrases and progressions.

Practise your material with custom backing tracks so that scales and patterns become music rather than just exercises.

Sonare can also suggest useful scales and musical ideas for different chords and progressions, helping you understand why certain notes work and giving you more confidence when creating your own phrases.

Games Hub

Fancy something quicker? Jump into the Games Hub.

Pitch and rhythm games develop listening, timing, tuning and musical reactions. Build streaks, test your ears, find the pulse, recognise time signatures and challenge yourself across different musical skills.

Practice Room and Sonare Paths

The Practice Room gives you direct access to more structured practice, including Mode Runner, Chord Map, Progressions and Improv Ideas.

Or follow Sonare Paths when you want the app to guide you through a connected sequence of listening, playing and creative activities.

The Why This Sound? feature explains the musical thinking behind scales, chords and harmony, then connects that understanding to practical ways of using the sound.

Track your progress

Sonare records your practice and achievements so you can earn badges, review recent work and generate personalised reports showing what you have been developing and useful areas to explore next.

Teacher Zone

Sonare also includes tools for instrumental and music teachers.

Create Lessons and Practice Packs, write and share Lesson Notes, organise Students & Groups, work with supported PDF and MP3 resources and create personalised progress reports.

This helps keep lesson planning, resources, practice and musical development connected.

Free to try, with Full Access available

Sonare includes a useful Free version with core tools, selected games and guided practice.

A one-time Full Access purchase unlocks the complete Sonare experience, including more games, Journeys, generated practice, builders, Lessons, Reports, Teacher tools, sharing features and more.
