Variance is a side project from a software engineer who plays poker — not a startup, not a team chasing growth, not something anyone is trying to make a living off of. Every feature is free. To help cover hosting and app store fees, a single short ad appears at most once every six hours, and a $5 tip from the About screen removes ads entirely. That's the whole model.

Variance is local-first. No account. No login. No cloud sync. No analytics SDK.

All of your data is stored only on your phone — Variance doesn't run any servers because it doesn't need any. The trade-off worth knowing: if you delete the app, your sessions go with it. There's no copy on a server for us to send back. Data export and backup capabilities are on the roadmap.
