About Rattan Port Loops

Rattan Port Loops is a quiet strategy board game about the one idea no other board game uses: to capture a piece, you have to leave the board entirely.

Twelve coral discs face twelve teal discs on a six by six woven table. The four inner lines in each direction run off the edge and are joined outside the corners by eight curved cane rails, which welds those lines into two long closed circuits. A disc that travels one of those circuits, crosses at least one rail and lands exactly on an enemy disc takes it - from the side, from behind, from wherever the rail brings it back in.

That single rule turns a calm-looking table into a game of sight lines you have to learn to read. A piece that looks perfectly safe may already be sitting at the far end of a circuit that curls out of the board and comes back at it.

HOW IT PLAYS
- Step one point in any direction, straight or diagonal, to an empty neighbour. A step never captures.
- Or send a disc down its own line, through at least one rail, and take the first enemy disc it lands on. Every point along the way must be empty, and your own discs block the run as firmly as the enemy.
- Win the full table by taking every enemy disc, or pick the short table, which ends the moment one side is down to two.

BUILT TO TEACH ITSELF
Tap any of your discs and the board shows you every circuit it can travel. Live circuits are drawn as bright ribbons with a marker running the whole route, so you watch the path bend around the rail before you commit. Dead circuits are dashed grey with a cross on whatever blocks them. Nothing is hidden, and nothing is guessed.

THREE RIVALS
Apprentice grabs whatever it can see. Weaver counts a move ahead and weighs the threats it creates against the ones it hands you. Master searches two moves deep and defends its own circuits while it hunts yours. Choose who opens, or let it alternate.

FIVE TABS
Play a table, read your ledger of captures broken down by how many rails you crossed, set the rival and the table length, work through an illustrated explainer of the circuits, and collect twelve cane medals along the way.

QUIET BY DESIGN
The whole game is offline. There is no internet connection, no ads, no analytics, no accounts, no sign-in, no in-app purchases and no sound at all - feedback is visual, with an optional short haptic tap when a disc lands. Your record is stored on your device and survives a restart. Play it on a plane, on a train, or in a waiting room without a single byte leaving your phone.

Every board, disc and rail is drawn as vector graphics on the fly, so the download stays small and the table stays crisp on any screen.
