Chalk Gable Slants

Chalk Gable Slants is a quiet logic puzzle drawn on a blueprint.

Every cell of the grid takes exactly one diagonal, a backslash or a forward slash. The numbers printed on the grid intersections tell you precisely how many diagonal ends must meet at that point. Not at least. Not at most. Exactly.

Then there is the rule that gives the puzzle its bite: the diagonals must never close a loop. Paths may branch and wander across the whole sheet, but the moment one curls back to where it started the draft is wrong. Satisfying every number is the easy half. Satisfying every number without closing a single circuit is the puzzle.

This is Slant, also known as Gokigen Naname. It rewards patient reading rather than speed.

WHAT IS INSIDE

- Three sheet sizes. 6 x 6 for a couple of minutes, 8 x 8 for the everyday sit, 10 x 10 for a long patient one.
- Every sheet is drafted fresh on your device and proved to have exactly one answer before it reaches you. No ambiguity, no guessing, no dead ends.
- Tap a cell to cycle it: blank, backslash, forward slash, blank. Clue numbers fill in the moment they read exactly right, and turn amber when too many diagonals touch them.
- Check finds any closed circuit and flashes it in red, so you can see the mistake instead of hunting for it.
- Unlimited undo, a hint that draws one certain diagonal, and a clock you can hide.
- A drafting log with per-size records, fastest times and totals.
- Ten drafting awards, all worked out from your own play.
- A How screen with worked diagrams of a satisfied clue and a forbidden loop, so the rules click before you start.
- A half-finished sheet is kept exactly where you left it, even after you close the app.

BUILT TO LEAVE YOU ALONE

- Completely offline. The app asks for no internet permission and cannot connect to anything.
- No adverts. No banners, no interstitials, no rewarded video, no cross-promotion.
- No sound at all. Nothing to mute and nothing to wake the room. Feedback is visual, with optional haptic taps.
- No accounts, no sign-in, no tracking, no analytics, no data collection.
- No purchases and no currency of any kind.
- Your log lives on your device and never leaves it.

The whole board is drawn as clean line work on drafting blue: chalk-white diagonals, thin rules and circled clue numbers. No clutter, no timers shouting at you, nothing flashing for attention.
