About Pilot Checkride Coach
Pilot Checkride Coach is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or produced by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) or any government entity. It is an independent study aid.
Pilot Checkride Coach is your study companion for the FAA Private Pilot Airplane practical test oral exam — the part of your check ride most students worry about most. Work through 474 original question-and-answer cards organized by ACS Area of Operation, covering everything a DPE can ask: regulations, weather, airspace, cross-country planning, performance, systems, human factors, airport operations, aerodynamics, emergencies, and night operations.
STUDY YOUR WAY
• Flashcard mode with a 3D flip card, one question at a time
• Full-text search across every question, answer, and FAA reference
• Favorites and a "needs review" flag for the topics that trip you up
• Spaced repetition scheduling brings due cards back right when you're about to forget them
• On iPad, a master-detail view lets you scan an entire topic and jump straight to any question
SIMULATE THE REAL THING
• DPE Oral Simulation walks you through a scenario-based mock check ride in the order a real examiner uses — brief, area-by-area questioning, and a debrief at the end
• Mock Oral gives you randomized questions, timed, with a scored summary and a list of what you missed
TRACK YOUR READINESS
• Per-topic and overall progress (known / needs review / unseen)
• Daily streaks and a Question of the Day to keep you moving
• A stats dashboard shows your study history and where you're weakest
QUICK REFERENCE
• A searchable library of the pilot mnemonics that actually matter — ARROW, AV1ATE, IMSAFE, PAVE, GUMPS, and more — each with its regulatory citation
ALSO INCLUDES A FLIGHT REVIEW TRACK
A lighter refresher deck built around 14 CFR §61.56, for pilots prepping for a flight review rather than a first-time check ride.
SOURCE MATERIAL
Content is grounded in public-domain FAA source material — original questions written from:
• FAA Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge (FAA-H-8083-25C): https://www.faa.gov/regulations_policies/handbooks_manuals/aviation/phak
• Private Pilot Airplane Airman Certification Standards (FAA-S-ACS-6): https://www.faa.gov/training_testing/testing/acs
This app is a study aid only and is not a substitute for instruction from a certificated flight instructor. Always consult current FAA regulations, the ACS, and your aircraft's POH/AFM.
