About MockLoc

MockLoc is a developer tool for testing location-based Android apps. Create GPS routes, save them on your device, and replay them through Android's built-in mock location provider. No root required.

Built for Android developers, QA engineers, and anyone shipping apps that depend on GPS, geofencing, navigation, fitness tracking, or real-time location.

▸ WHY MOCKLOC?
Testing location features on a real device usually means walking, driving, or faking coordinates one point at a time. MockLoc moves the device along a full route at the speed you set, so you can reproduce bugs, demo features, and check edge cases from your desk.

▸ CREATE ROUTES YOUR WAY
• Tap waypoints on the map and MockLoc follows the roads between them (Mapbox Directions)
• Draw freehand when you need a path off the road network
• Import GPX files from fitness trackers, mapping tools, or test fixtures
• Keep every route in a local library, one tap from replay

▸ REALISTIC GPS PLAYBACK
• Replay at any speed in km/h or mph, and change it mid-replay
• Set the reported GPS accuracy and altitude
• Pause, resume, stop, and loop
• Live progress and time remaining on the map
• Keeps running in the background and with the screen off
• Smooth position, bearing, and speed updates on the GPS, network, and fused providers

▸ MOCKLOC PRO (ONE-TIME PURCHASE)
• Realistic GPS signal: fixes drift a few metres off the path and accuracy wobbles, like a real receiver
• adb automation: start, stop, and query replays from a terminal or CI script
• Export any route as a GPX file
Everything that is free today stays free.

▸ TYPICAL USE CASES
• Test ride-share, delivery, or fleet apps along realistic paths
• Validate geofence entry and exit without leaving the office
• QA navigation, maps, and turn-by-turn features
• Demo location-aware features to stakeholders
• Replay recorded GPX tracks for regression testing

▸ HOW IT WORKS
1. Enable Developer Options on your Android device
2. Select MockLoc as the mock location app (the in-app checklist walks you through it)
3. Tap Add route to draw one on the map or import a GPX file
4. Pick a route, set the speed, and tap Play
5. Switch to the app you're testing. Its location follows your route

▸ REQUIREMENTS
• Android 8.0 or later with Developer Options enabled
• Internet connection for maps and road-following routes. Saved routes replay offline
• Location permission to run the replay and centre the map
• Notification permission to keep a replay running with the screen off

Apps that deliberately check for mock locations can still detect them. MockLoc does not hide that a location is mocked.

▸ INTENDED USE
MockLoc is designed for legitimate development and quality-assurance testing of apps you own or are authorised to test. It is not intended for cheating in games, bypassing restrictions, or any deceptive use. You are responsible for complying with applicable laws and the terms of service of the apps you test.

▸ PRIVACY
Routes and settings stay on your device, and there is no account to create. See our privacy policy for what data is collected and how it is handled.
