About BaldosaCheck: Hollow Tiles

BaldosaCheck turns your phone's microphone, accelerometer and, optionally,
vibration motor into a guidance tool for comparing tiles and screening for
areas that may be hollow or poorly bonded.

First, calibrate the app on a tile you know is properly bonded. BaldosaCheck
analyses surrounding noise and vibration for 2–8 seconds. It compares moving
windows, finishes when it finds a stable interval and applies a prudent
sensitivity setting. Then place the phone against or very close to the area you
want to check. The app verifies that it is still and guides you through five
gentle knuckle knocks. It compares the readings and automatically excludes
outliers.

You can also voluntarily enable Automatic Beta mode. With this method, rest the
phone flat on the tile and the app generates a controlled vibration, so no
knocking is required. Its five-reading calibration is independent from manual
calibration, and each test compares five reinforced automatic readings.

BaldosaCheck provides an acoustic comparison for guidance. Results may vary
with tile type and thickness, adhesive, phone placement, surrounding noise and
knocking technique. The index is not a physical percentage of detached
surface. Repeat the test at several points and ask a qualified professional to
