About BBCH Crop Phenology
The BBCH scale is a standardized decimal coding system used to identify and describe the phenological growth stages of plants, including both monocotyledonous and dicotyledonous species. This system enables consistent observation of crop development, facilitating analysis, comparison, and digitalization.
Developed by an international working group involving German institutions such as BBA, BSA, IVA, and IGZ, the BBCH scale has become a global reference in agronomy and plant phenology.
🌱 What can you do with this app?
• Look up the meaning of BBCH codes for different crops
• Explore phenological growth stages in a clear and intuitive way
• Access information based on the official BBCH monograph
• Record field phenological observations
• Document crop development with data and photos
📊 What is it for?
Phenological monitoring is essential for:
• Optimizing crop protection and fertilization strategies
• Anticipating risks (pests, stress, climatic conditions)
• Evaluating varietal performance
• Analyzing the impact of climate change
• Improving agronomic decision-making
