UPI Charges & MDR Calculator

From 15 October 2026, shops in India pay a small fee on UPI payments above ₹2,000. It is called MDR, the Merchant Discount Rate. This calculator shows what a shop is charged on any payment, what actually reaches its account, and the working behind every figure. Customers pay nothing: the fee comes out of what the shop receives.

ONE PAYMENT
• Type the amount and see the fee the shop pays, what it receives and the fee as a share of the payment
• Pick who is being paid: most shops and businesses (0.4%, never more than ₹300); petrol pumps, railways, phone, insurance and utility bills (a flat ₹5); mutual funds and shares (0.02%, also capped at ₹300); or a small shop paid into a personal account (nothing)
• The working is written out, e.g. 3,000 × 0.4 ÷ 100 = 12, and why ₹1,00,000 costs ₹300, not ₹400
• Payments of ₹2,000 or less show no fee, as the rule says
• An optional 18% GST on the fee, clearly marked: NPCI's FAQ does not say whether GST applies
