Kautio: Safety Check-ins

Set a timed check-in before a first date, a solo hike, a marketplace meetup, or a client meeting. Check in on time and no one is contacted. Miss it, and Kautio notifies the people you chose, in order, automatically.

Kautio is a privacy-first check-in app. No one has to watch a map. No one has to stay awake. It just runs.

HOW IT WORKS

1. Invite your contacts. They install Kautio and accept once. After that, Kautio contacts them by text, even with the app closed.

2. Set up a check-in. Choose who Kautio contacts first and who it contacts next (your tiers), then pick your check-in time. Once your contacts are in, it takes under 60 seconds.

3. Go live your life. Put your phone in your pocket.

4. At check-in time, respond with a tap. Snooze if you need more time. Your contacts are not notified. Dismiss when you're done.

5. If you don't respond, the system moves through your tiers and notifies each group of contacts in order.

WHAT MAKES KAUTIO DIFFERENT

Works when you can't.
Kautio's servers keep the time, not your phone. If your phone dies, if you fall asleep, if you lose signal, the check-in still moves forward on schedule. Your backup plan doesn't depend on your battery life.

Tiered contacts, not a group blast.
Tier 1 might be your best friend. Tier 2 might be family. You set the wait between tiers, and each one is notified in order.

A follow-up for longer plans.
Turn on a follow-up 24 or 48 hours after the start time you set, for the overnight trip or the evening that runs late. Even if you dismiss the check-in, the follow-up still runs on schedule. If you don't clear it, your contacts are notified.

Privacy by design.
Location is recorded only during an active check-in, and only if you turn it on. Between check-ins, Kautio knows nothing about where you are. Your contacts see nothing unless you miss a check-in. Check-in data deletes automatically 90 days after a check-in ends. A minimal record of each check-in's schedule and notification outcomes, with no title, location, notes, or photos, is kept for legal-compliance purposes. No continuous tracking. No data sales.

What Kautio sends your contacts.
A text with your name, the check-in's title, and a link. The details you added open in the app.

A call you can take.
Turn on voice calls and Kautio rings your phone at check-in time. It's a natural reason to step away. Press 1 to snooze, 2 to dismiss.

Quiet by default.
Most check-ins end with a quick tap. When you check in, Kautio contacts no one. Your date never knows. Using Kautio is like putting on a seatbelt. Something thoughtful people do without thinking twice.

PRICING

You start with 3 free credits. Without a subscription, each check-in uses 1 credit. Every check-in works the same on every plan: the same tiers, the same notifications, the same follow-up.

Want more? Kautio Full Access is $9.99/month or $79.99/year. Schedule check-ins whenever you need them, with no credits to count. They run one at a time. Cancel anytime.

Run a fuller schedule? Kautio Pro is $24.99/month or $199.99/year. Check-ins can overlap instead of waiting for each other, and the scheduling caps rise from 10 scheduled and 5 new a day to 25 and 15. Pro also adds recurring check-ins, saved Safety Presets, and Contact Groups. Pro adds capacity and convenience, not protection: the check-in itself is the same on every plan.

Kautio is not an emergency service. It doesn't call 911 or dispatch emergency personnel. It's a notification system that tells people you trust when you've gone quiet.
