Glosa: Local AI Translator

Glosa translates text, speech, and images using an AI language model that runs entirely on your phone. Download a model once, and translation after that works with no internet connection at all.

WHY OFFLINE MATTERS

Most translation apps send everything you type to a server. Glosa does not — there is no Glosa server. Your conversations, your documents, the photo of a prescription label, the thing you needed to say in a hospital: none of it leaves your phone.

That also means it works where you need it most. On a plane. On a mountain. On a foreign SIM with no data. In a basement clinic with no signal.

WHAT IT DOES

• Text translation across 190+ languages, with a tone setting — neutral, formal, casual, or business — so the result sounds the way you meant it.

• Speech to speech. Tap the microphone, speak, and hear the translation read aloud. Speech recognition and text-to-speech both run on your device.

• Camera translation. Point your camera at a menu, a sign, or a form and see translations overlaid on the text in place. Works with Latin, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean scripts.

• Photo translation. Translate text in any picture from your gallery.

• Automatic language detection. Not sure what you are looking at? Leave the source language on Auto.

• Conversation memory. Glosa remembers earlier turns in the same conversation, so pronouns and context carry across sentences instead of each line being translated cold.

• History and sessions, grouped and searchable, stored only on your device.

• An interface available in 22 languages, following your phone's language automatically.

CHOOSE YOUR MODEL

Glosa offers three AI models so you can trade download size against translation quality:

• Gemma 4 E2B (about 2.6 GB) — the recommended balance, and the default.
• Gemma 4 E4B (about 3.7 GB) — the best quality, for recent high-memory flagship phones.
• Qwen3 0.6B (about 586 MB) — the smallest download, with noticeably weaker translations.

You can switch models at any time in Settings, and download more than one.

BEFORE YOU INSTALL

• Glosa needs a 64-bit ARM phone. Nearly every Android phone sold in the last several years qualifies.
• The first-run model download is large — 0.6 GB to 3.7 GB depending on your choice. Please use Wi-Fi. The download continues when your screen is off.
• You will need free storage space for the model you pick.

PRIVACY

Glosa is free and supported by ads, which load over the network. The ads are non-personalized — they are not targeted using a profile of you. Your translations, your speech and your photos are never sent anywhere; they are processed on your device.

No account. No login. Your translations are never transmitted.

The app collects crash reports (via Firebase Crashlytics) so that bugs can be fixed. Crash reports contain a stack trace, your device model and OS version, and a random installation ID. They never contain your translations, your speech, your photos, or your history.
